DEADWALK Signs With YEAR OF THE SUN RECORDS

March 5, 2008

Montreal-based metal/hardcore hybrid DEADWALK has signed with Year of the Sun Records for the release of its upcoming debut full-length. The band is currently writing and pre-producing tracks for the CD, which is being recorded at B-Side Studios with producer Frank Losier (BLESSED BY A BROKEN HEART). The group's new record will also be released in conjunction with Tribunal Records in The United States.

"We, as a band, could not be happier to be signing this deal with Year of the Sun Records," states DEADWALK bassist Gates Pompizzi. "We might be a little different than some of the bands on the label, but diversity is what makes this label a family. We have been working hard, and we know that Year of the Sun has been working hard to make a name for themselves, And put themselves on the map, so it feels right for us to sign with them. We know they will do good things for us and we look forward to joining this family and putting the north back on the map."

DEADWALK has been creating a name for itself as one of Canada's premier metal/hardcore hybrids for the past year. The group's independently released EP, "Powerhouse", took the music scene up north by its legs and swung it around as the band toured as much as it could. Their energetic live show and heavy heartfelt songs have landed them spots and opportunities to share the stage with heavy hitting, hard touring acts such as hardcore warriors EMMURE, BRING ME THE HORIZON and ELYSIA, to some of metal's fastest rising acts including ION DISSONNANCE and BURY YOUR DEAD.

"I think when we took a look at DEADWALK we saw both a raw and aggressive band but also a band that has an amped up passion for both the music they create and the music scene in general," says label president Chris Benn. "A lot of bands say the same things about their commitment level but DEADWALK takes it to the next level which makes them a perfect fit for our roster."
